Hello Family,
I don't have much time to write so I'm going to throw a bunch of information on you at once. Argentina is pretty great! I wasn't too culture shocked
because I have been expecting this for some time now. The flight from Dallas to BA was about 11 hours! We were picked up by someone who worked at church headquarters in
Buenos Aires and he drove to the church headquarters building.
Buenos Aires was pretty crazy! No one knows how to drive and the city has a lot going on. It was definitely cool to drive through it though. We waited at church headquarters for a few hours then caught a
flightfrom BA to
Resistencia,
Chaco! This part of the country is so green! It was pretty cool flying in. President
Heyman's house is in
Resistencia so we stayed there for a night. The
next day we had a few meetings with him and he
gave us all the information regarding the mission. after that we all met our Companions. My companion is Elder
McGurry from Bountiful,
Utha! ha-ha. He's been out for 18 months and speaks good Spanish. We were assigned to
Ituzaingo, Argentina! It's a small city along the river
tha separates Paraguay and Argentina. I'm not sure what the river is called yet. It's pretty cool though. If you can imagine a beach city along the coast in California, but Argentina style, that's how it is. Elder
McGurry and I were whitewashed, which means only Sister missionaries have been here for the past 3 or 4 years,
which means the place is crawling with people waiting to be taught by Elders! We're pretty excited about that. There aren't enough
members here for a ward so they have a small branch of about 40 or 50 people, not sure exactly. The Branch President is a cool guy and the members are extremely nice! I've been trying to learn as much Spanish as possible and have already started talking what I know. I have already bore my testimony and said prayers in lessons and Elder
McGurry is helping me learn quickly. So far the food has been pretty good too! It is definitely different, but not too bad.
We plan on working hard to help grow the
branch here! The
members are very active and love the gospel and are excited to have some Elders in this area. We are excited to be here also. Anyways, I don't have time to send pictures this week but I'll make sure to send some next week! Look up
Ituzaingo on Google or something! It's a very humble place and people make the best with
what they
have, they're
extremely friendly though!
Things are good here! Let me know how life is going at home. Love you all and I'll write back to you next week :) Pictures then too!
